The robe that looks most generous in a photograph may still have too little overlap at the place where you tie it.

Measure the overlap while sitting

Use a robe or comparable wrap garment to find the coverage you want at the waist and lap when seated. Record its body width and the useful overlap, not only its nominal size. A long belt can close a garment without supplying enough fabric across the front. Compare the candidate's finished dimensions and ask for missing information if overlap is central to the purchase. Decide whether the robe is mainly for brief after-washing use or for longer seated periods. Those situations can create different length and sleeve preferences even within one household.

Check sleeves against the bathroom routine

Try the reference while reaching toward the washbasin, a shelf and the hook where the robe will hang. Notice where cuffs fall and whether their openings gather in the way. Compare sleeve length and cuff width for the candidate using its stated measurement method. A generous body does not prove a sleeve will be practical. If pockets matter, check their position with the belt tied and while seated. Look for usable pocket depth rather than counting them. The robe should allow the movements you intend without relying on constant rolling, retightening or rearrangement of excess fabric.

Allocate drying and hanging space first

Measure the hook height and the space where the robe will rest, including clearance below its hem. A bulkier absorbent-style robe and a lighter robe have different storage volumes, but their actual material and care directions should decide how you handle them. Do not claim a drying speed without evidence for the product. Check the hanging loop if you expect to use one, and follow the manufacturer's storage advice. A robe kept in a narrow bathroom needs a place where its sleeves and belt will not remain tightly bunched merely because the product fits on one hook.

Choose the material with its stated care task

Read the composition, washing and drying instructions for the exact robe, including any trim or belt. Decide whether that process fits your household laundry rotation. If the robe will be shared, each intended wearer's overlap and sleeve needs still require a check; a one-size description does not establish both. Reject a candidate that closes with too little usable overlap or exceeds the storage arrangement you can provide. Choose the lighter or bulkier format because it meets those practical conditions. The useful purchase combines coverage, reachable sleeves and a realistic place to return after use.
