Begin with the jacket's exact identity
Record the jacket model and current product information rather than relying on the general phrase waxed Barbour jacket. The reviewed US guide lists Beaufort, Bedale and Ashby for the Waxed Cotton Hood. Its Classic Sylkoil Hood list names Ashby, Classic Beaufort and Classic Bedale. Preserve the word Classic where it appears instead of silently merging the two lists.
These are the current live guide statements reviewed for this article. Older indexed wording and vintage product histories should not be used to extend that list to unverified models. If an older jacket or an unclear variation is involved, obtain a model-level answer from Barbour before ordering a hood on the strength of a family resemblance.
Match the finish as well as the name
The Waxed Cotton Hood product page describes 6 oz Thornproof waxed cotton. The Classic Sylkoil Hood describes 6 oz Sylkoil. Barbour also notes that not every jacket colourway has a matching hood. A missing exact match should remain visible in the order decision. Select the actual hood colour and reference, then compare it with the jacket information you have documented.
Read shape features within their scope
Both reviewed hood pages describe an oversized shape with room for a hat and a wire in the brim. Those are design details relevant to choosing the accessory. They do not prove that every hat, wearer or adjustment will fit identically. The Classic Sylkoil description refers to pre-studded jackets, which is another reason to check the jacket's documented hood arrangement before purchasing.
